Aikido of Reno: Tools for Life
You are the central character in your life’s story. Whether you realize it or not, you’re embarked on a journey. On your expedition, you’ve seen dragons. From the dinner table, to the boardroom, to the physical threat on the street - challenges await along the way. They seem to lurk in the shadows, only revealing themselves when least expected.
The epic dojo is designed for your success, no matter what path you find yourself on. From learning self-defense, to being able to tap into your highest potential at work, to improving your family life - aikido principles can be applied to any situation. Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido, lived the heroic journey from sickly youth, to unbeatable warrior, to enlightened master. It’s a journey that inspires our art every day.
At the Epic Dojo, training is rigorous and challenging, yet we practice in a supportive, non-competitive environment that is fashioned for people of any age. Our members range from age 5 to 70 (the 70 year old just got his 2nd degree black-belt).
Ueshiba (O’Sensei, as he’s called in the dojo) designed aikido to be non-competitive for a good reason. Look around and you’ll notice that the world isn’t growing more competitive, but more cooperative.
We’re all about a little healthy competition, but disregard what your 8th grade football coach told you - open-source, transparency, connection with others, self awareness, collaboration, and mutual cooperation is what advances our world - not competition.
A calm mental state, centered balance, dynamic body mechanics, hyper-awareness, and economy of motion (or, even better, having the wherewithal to avoid it all together) are what’s going to enable you to neutralize a deadly threat and save your life on the street - as opposed to sticking around to compete with an animal who has no regard for rules of any kind and is hell-bent on ruining your world.
The Epic Dojo is the perfect training ground for our ever-evolving world. The techniques and lessons taught here are going to be tools which you can instantly apply on day one of class, both in the dojo and at home.
In our journey, time and mental space are our most valuable resources. What we fill them with directly relates to outcomes on our path.
We’re throwing down the gauntlet (in a non-competitive way, of course). Consider this a challenge... Make your personal story epic. Set foot on a journey of self-discovery and personal development. Slay your dragons while maintaining a sense of harmony, not destruction. Find the beauty in conflict. Your life is real, not a sporting event.
We invite you to take up your sword and come down. Call today to schedule a time to observe a class. We’d love to meet you and find how we can best assist with your adventure.
